Grupo Manía, founded in 1993 in Puerto Rico by brothers Héctor and Oscar Serrano,with Edwin Serrano and Alfred Cotto, is one of the Island’s most iconicmerengue groups. Known for their infectious energy, synchronized choreography,and crowd-pleasing hits, the group helped lead a resurgence of merengue andtropical music during the 1990s.
Their debut album ¡ABombazo…Sí! introduced their lively sound, but it was their second album, Explotó el Bombazo (1994) — featuringrising star Elvis Crespo — that catapulted them to widespread fame. By 1996,with the release of Está de Moda,they dominated the Billboard Tropical charts and became household names inLatin America and the U.S.
Grupo Manía is best known for hit songslike “Linda Eh,” “Me Miras y Te Miro,”“Como Me Haces Falta,” “Deja Que la Gente Diga,” and “A Que Te Pego Mi Manía.” Their music blends traditional merengue with pop and urbanrhythms, creating a danceable, youthful style that has remained relevant acrossgenerations.
Throughout their career, the group has released over 15albums, including Dance Manía, The Dynasty, and 2050. Despite numerous lineup changes, the group has continued toevolve while staying true to its roots.
