Lunna

Lunna, born María Socorro García de la Noceda on June 30, 1955, in Ponce, Puerto Rico,is a beloved Puerto Rican singer renowned for her elegant voice and emotionallycharged delivery in pop, jazz, and ballads. With a career spanning over fivedecades, she has become a staple in the Island’s musical history.

She began her artistic journey in the 1970s, singing under thename "Soqui" and later joining the vocal group Allegro 72. Afteryears of working in television, radio jingles, and as a background vocalist,she launched her solo career under the name Lunna, where her talent quicklytook center stage.

Lunna gained national recognition in 1982 when she representedPuerto Rico at the OTI Festival in Peru with the song “Sin tu música.” In 1986, she released Motivos with Glenn Monroig, one of the first digitally producedalbums in Puerto Rico. A year later, she released her self-titled solo albumunder A&M Records, which featured hits like “No Digas Nada,” “NiPrincesa, Ni Esclava,” and “FugitivoAmante.”

She was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1988, a milestone thatsolidified her place in Latin pop history. Other standout songs in her careerinclude “Soledad,” “Cómo Ser Amantes,”and “Yo Perdí.” Her musical stylemixes romantic ballads with jazz influences, performed with timeless elegance.

In addition to performing, Lunna has mentored new talent andserved as director of the hit reality show ObjetivoFama. With over 50 years in the music industry, Lunna remains one of PuertoRico’s most respected female voices, admired for her vocal artistry andenduring legacy.
