Ricky Martin

Ricky Martin, born Enrique Martín Morales on December 24, 1971, in San Juan, PuertoRico, is a global music icon recognized for his pioneering role in introducingLatin pop to mainstream audiences. He began his career at age 12 as a member ofthe boy band Menudo, touring the world and developing his stage presence. Afterleaving the group in 1989, he launched a solo career in Latin America withearly albums Ricky Martin (1991) and Me Amarás (1993).

His international breakthrough came with the 1995 album A Medio Vivir, featuring the smash hit “María.” In 1998, “La Copa de la Vida” became the official anthem of the FIFA WorldCup, catapulting him to global fame. A year later, his English-language debutincluded “Livin’ la Vida Loca,” achart-topping hit that sparked the Latin pop explosion of the late ‘90s.

Martin’s genre spans Latin pop, dance, rock, and ballads, withother iconic songs like “She Bangs,” “LaMordidita,” “Tu Recuerdo,” “Vuelve,” and “Vente Pa’ Ca.” Over the years, he has released 10 studio albumsand continues to sell out stadiums worldwide.
